Magnetic sliding car window curtains · sold in pairs

Shade the side windows. Slide it back when you need the view.

Each curtain hangs from a slim curved rail with magnets built in. The rail snaps onto the steel frame around your car's side window, and the pleated curtain slides along it: closed for shade and privacy, gathered to one side when you want the window clear. Nothing to drill, glue or screw in.

Choose a pair for the rear windows, a pair for the front windows, or the four-piece set in black for both rows.

Where it earns its place

Back-seat shade on the road, a private cabin when parked.

Rear curtains take the direct sun and glare off passengers in the back on long drives, and keep the cabin less on show when the car sits in a parking lot.

Once you are parked, close every curtain and the car becomes its own small room: a nap on a work break, car camping, changing after the gym, feeding a baby, or a drive-in movie without the lights of the lot in your eyes.

Front windows

Front curtains are for parked use only.

Many US states prohibit covering the front side windows while a car is moving, because the driver needs a clear view of the side mirrors and the traffic beside the car. Keep front curtains slid fully open and gathered against the door pillar whenever you drive, and close them only when the car is parked. Rules for rear side windows vary by state too, so check your local rules before you drive with them closed.

Fit check

One thing to check first: a steel window frame.

The magnets only grip steel. Open the door and hold a fridge magnet against the painted metal frame above the side window. If it sticks, the rail will too.

These curtains will not hold on doors where the glass has no frame around it (frameless doors), on aluminum frames, or where the frame is fully covered by plastic trim. Wipe the frame clean before you fit them, so grit does not sit under the magnets.

Fitting

On in a minute, off in seconds.

1. Line it upHold the rail along the top of the window frame so its curve follows the frame.
2. Let it snap onThe magnets pull the rail onto the steel. Nudge it until the curtain covers the glass evenly.
3. Slide to suitDraw it closed for shade, or gather the pleats to one side to clear the window.

Three colors

Black, Silver or Gold.

All three use the same rail and pleated curtain. Black is the darkest and most private. Silver is a light grey and Gold is a light champagne beige; both let more daylight through and suit lighter interiors.

The four-piece set (front and rear pairs together) comes in black.

Worth knowing before you buy

The honest small print.

  • Shade, not blackout. Some light gets in around the edges, and the lighter colors let daylight through the fabric. Black is the most private.
  • Measure if your windows are large. Compare the curtain sizes above with your glass; very tall or very wide windows may show a gap.
  • Front pair: parked only. Keep front curtains open whenever the car is moving.
  • Lift, do not drag. Take the rail off by lifting it straight away from the frame rather than sliding it across the paint.
