Be heard first with a horn that finally sounds like it means it
The horn fitted to a scooter, a commuter bike or a budget hatchback is usually the cheapest part that will still pass inspection. It is adequate in a parking lot and close to useless on a highway on-ramp, where the one thing you need is for the driver drifting into your lane to look up.
This is the upgrade: a super loud, single high-tone snail horn that bolts on where the old one came off and gets you noticed. Sharp, cutting and impossible to ignore, it carries over traffic and through a helmet.
One bolt, and it is on
The horn hangs from a flat steel strap with a single punched hole, held to the body by a chrome flange nut on the center stud. Find the bracket the old horn came off, pass one bolt through the strap, tighten it. Point the face where you want the sound to go and you are done.
- Single-bolt steel strap — reuses the mounting point the original horn used on most bikes and scooters.
- Molded splash hood — a curved plastic shroud sits over the top of the housing and shields the face from spray thrown up from in front.
- Sealed front face — the face is a closed disc carrying a printed decal, so rain and road spray have nowhere to get in.
- Two spade terminals — standard flat male blades, so ordinary insulated spade connectors push straight on.
For the cleanest install, wire it through a relay with an inline fuse, the standard setup for a horn upgrade. Standard automotive wire, insulated spade connectors, a fuse and a relay are all available at any auto parts store.
Sharp, high and built to cut through
A single sustained tone at 510 Hz, the high note of the classic automotive pair. That upper register is the point: it cuts through engine noise, wind and traffic and carries through a helmet better than a deep note does. It is a full-size 12V vehicle horn, considerably louder than the small stock horn on a scooter or a budget car.
Fit it once and every junction, on-ramp and blind corner gets a horn that announces you.
Built for the open road
The front face is a sealed disc rather than an open grille, and a molded plastic hood curves over the top to shield it from spray thrown up from in front. Mounted in a normal position on a bike, scooter, quad or boat, it shrugs off rain and splash.
What it fits
Any 12 volt negative-ground vehicle with somewhere to bolt a bracket: motorcycles, scooters, quads, cars, trucks and light vans, boats and riding mowers among them.
- Made for 12 V systems — the standard electrical system on motorcycles, scooters, cars, light trucks and boats.
- Mounts to any bracket or flat point — the strap takes one bolt, so it fits wherever the old horn lived.
- Compact — 4.8 in tall and 2.9 in deep, so it tucks in behind a fork, grille or fairing with room for the sound to leave.
